Tools
Phillips Screwdriver
New Motor(s)
Silicone Caulking

Step 1

Unplug the Unit!
Step 2

Locate Lid. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws from the lid. Rotate screwdriver left to loosen screws.Remove Lid. Peel back foam.
Step 3

The ground wire is the green wire. Using a straight blade screwdriver, loosen the green screw just enough to pull out the ground wire.

Step 4

Locate the red wire connected to the on/off switch. Gently pull out to unplug the wire.

Step 5

Find the other black wire running from the motor. Gently pull out from underneath the foam, it is tied to a white wire with a yellow wire cap.

Step 6

Gently turn to remove yellow wire cap. Separate wires. If the wires are soldered together cut them with the wire cutters. Save the yellow wire cap for later use.

Step 7

Using your 5/16 ratchet, loosen the motor clamp.

Step 8

Remove Clamp. After the clamp is removed you should notice a little piece of cardboard stuck to the black motor boot. Pull it off and set it aside.
Step 9

Make sure that you have a hold of the motor from the bottom. Using you finger pop up the rubber boot and the motor will fall through the motor ring.
Step 10

Lower the motor down and out to remove.
Step 11

Insert the new motor up through the motor ring. Note: For Tote models you must insert the motor without the filter connected.

Step 12

Use a book, block, box, etc., to hold the motor high enough so you can fold down the rubber boot.

Step 13

Using your fingers gently fold the rubber boot over the motor ring.

Step 14

Reinstall the Motor Clamp. Make sure the cardboard is inserted between the rubber boot and the clamp. It is very important that this step is correct. The cardboard is to insure that the clamp does not split the rubber boot.

Step 15

Using your 5/16 ratchet, tighten the motor clamp. Be Careful not to over tighten.

Step 16

Locate the green ground wire with the blue wire end. Cut the wire 3 or 4 inches below the blue end.

Step 17

Using your wire strippers, strip the green ground wire still connected to your unit.

Step 18

Twist together the green ground wire from your unit with the yellow & green ground wire on your new motor. Insert twisted wires into the yellow wire cap. Turn wire cap until snug Wire cap correctly connected.

Step 19

Locate the black wire with a red end on your new motor. Plug it in to the switch.

Step 20

Locate the other black wire on your new motor. Locate the white wire you cut earlier. Strip the wires. The white wire may already be stripped if it was not soldered earlier.

Step 21

Insert wires into the yellow wire cap. Turn wire cap until snug.

Step 22

Tuck all loose wires into the foam to make sure they do not get into the motor.

Step 23

Make sure to plug in your unit and test run the motor before replacing the lid.

Step 24

Gently replace foam to its original position.

Step 25

Replace the lid. When starting each screw make sure you are screwing into the original holes. If not, you could strip out each hole and your lid will not seal correctly.
